Last week I spoke about finding balance in periods of imbalance. This week reminded me of the importance of sacrificing what you want for what you need.

We all have competing priorities. Commitments to our spouse or children, work deadlines or nailing that perfect week of habit adherence. You will never be rid of the pressure of making the “right choice”.

Embrace it. Choosing the more difficult path will usually be the correct option.

Want to lie in bed? Get up.

Feeling like eating junk food? Choose the healthy option.

Want to work long hours to get ahead? Your kids won’t give a shit about your new title at work, they will only remember you were never around.

Choose wisely, friends.

Want to be able to predict a heart attack?

In two weeks, I will be going for my first-ever Coronary Calcium Score Test.

The test looks for the build-up of plaque on your artery walls which will help calculate your risk of heart disease. With research suggesting that up to 80% of heart disease could be preventable, the coronary calcium score test could be a predictive measure to help you avoid heart disease.

My father passed away from a heart attack at 55 and I’m keen to know if I have some of the same risk factors as him. I’ll keep you posted on my results.

Poor planning on Saturday meant I just made the cut for 80% completion.
