A big part of success is having the ability to pick a goal and stick with it. We all know consistency and persistence are where most of the magic happens.
But have you ever chosen a goal, only to realise after you begin the journey that it’s the wrong goal altogether?
I have. So many times.
If you’re guilty just like me, the following military gem just might help.
Enter the OODA Loop.
The OODA Loop is a military decision framework used by commanders to make better decisions. The key takeaway of this framework is the Observe and Orient phases of the loop.
Before you go making your next big decision try this:
Stop and observe your surroundings, feelings and thoughts
Oreint on the root cause of these feelings and thoughts. Ask yourself, is it consistent with your long-term goals or are you acting out of impulse?
Once you’ve spent enough time with it, decide. The saying “sleep on it” usually helps with big decisions
Act.

The microbiome or “gut health” has been gaining popularity over the last decade. Largely to the vast amount of marketing dollars put into products such as probiotics.
With the “feel-good” neurotransmitter Serotonin largely being produced inside your gut, it makes sense to take notice.
The problem, probiotics can react differently from person to person. Due to the unpredictable nature of probiotics, research suggests that a few changes to your diet will be the easiest, most proven way to improve the health of your gut.
This 10-year study revealed that high-fiber foods can help your gut flourish. This includes fruits and vegetables, herbs, spices, and fermented foods like kimchi and yoghurt.
Fermented foods have been proven to help lower inflammation, reduce GI tract sensitivity and support a healthier immune system. 1-2 servings a day might just be all your body needs.
